Migratory Orientation and Volunteering
We are working as a class with AHEC on their migratory workers program. We are traveling to several different locations within Georgia and setting up medical stations to give immigrant workers much needed medical attention. We are able to do vital signs such as blood pressures, pulse rates and height/weight. We also donated several items that the immigrants may need such as: medications, wash cloths, soap, tooth paste, socks, anti-fungal cream and other ointments. These items were taken to the medical site and were distributed to the patients. There will be several different days that people will go to volunteer and it has been and will continue to be a wonderful experience for us as practitioners. It is also very rewarding to help people who are in such need and to attempt to cross the language barrier between ourselves and the spanish speaking patients.
