Homeless Lecture
February 19th our class received a homeless 101 training lecture from members of the Union Mission. The Union Mission works within Savannah and the surrounding areas to help homeless individuals find jobs, living quarters, and medical attention. They are a wonderful organization that South University is very privelaged to work with. The SUPAide representative worked with them to allow us to take a small training class so that we could work with homeless individuals who seek the Union Missions help. We were taught about the staggering statistics of homelessness in Savannah and in the U.S. as a whole. We were also informed of how to deal with the homeless as a patient population. The lecture was very informative and will serve as a wonderful tool in our medical practices.
